Dysart!
So good they named it twice? Dysart in Dysart, there's no mistaking where this boat is from. Fife, Scotland.

Dysart
Pan Ha' and St Serf's Church on the left in Dysart near Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland. This is a preserved street of distinctive red roofed houses. “Pan” derives from the many salt pans found nearby at one time, and “Ha'” is an abbreviation of the Scottish word -haugh-, meaning a flat piece of land. The area was once the home of a thriving salt panning industry.

Private Road
It may be a private road but nobody really bothers, that's part of the beauty of Ardnamurchan and Sanna. There's not really anywhere to go here in any case. Having said that I would hate it if the masses of tourists that flock to the area now abused the rights of local people. In the meantime, leave only footprints etc.

Ardnamurchan Lighthouse
The most westerly point on the Scottish Mainland and I'm standing on it. Ardnamurchan Lighthouse with the island of Rum in the background formerly or the island known as Rhum. Muck is just peeping into the image too, and is that a tiny bit of Eigg? The lighthouse is still fully functional and plays a vital role in the safety of seafarers. The only lighthouse in the UK, allegedly, that is built in an Egyptian style but no surprises it comes from the Stevenson family, this time being Alan Stevenson who designed it. He was responsible for building 13 lighthouses around the Scottish coast. Ardnamurchan Lighthouse was finished in 1849 and stands 35-36 metres tall (depending on where you source your info.), made of pink granite from Mull, although it doesn't look that pink even up close due to weathering. However, it is in such a grand setting and not to be missed is a climb up the internal staircase to be met by a fantastic view at the top, if you are lucky enough to visit the area. The lighthouse, no surprise , is a grade A listed building and is now managed and owned by the Ardnamurchan Lighthouse Trust. There is accommodation in the lighthouse buildings and the old Lighthouse Keeper's cottages are now occupied by a lovely café and gift shop, making a visit even more worthwhile. Once you have purchased your beverage/food if the weather is nice then there are tables outside and slightly further up the small hill there are more tables and a very sheltered, large circular seating area. Dans son œuvre intitulée “Man Car”, le peintre Zephi offre une vision saisissante de l’interconnexion entre l’homme et la machine. La toile, d’une audace remarquable, juxtapose l’humanité et la technologie en fusionnant ces deux entités en une seule forme hybride. La figure humaine, dont les contours se mélangent avec les éléments mécaniques d’une voiture, incarne l’essence d’une symbiose moderne où les limites entre l’organique et le mécanique deviennent floues. Sanna Croft House
Looking east into the Great Eucrite Ring forming a ridge of low hills round Achnaha, even on a small scale this looks quite dramatic and given the explosive nature of how these hills were formed makes them even more so. Just behind me is the sea and the beautiful sands of Sanna Bay. Remote Sanna, Ardnamurchan on the west coast of Scotland. Get away from it all. About 150 miles from Glasgow by road which can take as long as 4 or 5 hours to get to dependent on ferries, traffic, weather conditions and how often you stop the car to marvel at the natural beauty of Scotland on the way.

Ben Resipole and Loch Sunart
Ardnamurchan. Looking east along Loch Sunart towards Ben Resipole which is not quite a Munro. Beautiful Scots Pines and a lonely brich typify this area although there is some considerable commercial forrestry. In 2003 this area laid claim to Britain's largest forest and moorland fire with an area of around 10sq miles devasted due to a prolonged drought. For the tourist this was fantastic weather, to the wildlife and fauna a different story. This was the only time I can remember camping this far north and there being no dew on the tent in the morning. I also recall at night time looking up to the hillside to the north of where this shot is taken and thinking that the rim of fire was reminiscent of Mt. Etna in eruption. The glory days of Ardnamurchan restored.

It really is surprising how good the output of a 17 year old DSLR can still look. This was taken with a Canon 40D that I keep in my truck to give me something better to use than my phone in case an opportunity presents itself when I'm not out intentionally looking to take photos. That said, while I do really like this composition, a late evening photo while using a slow 12 year old superzoom lens has come close to bumping up against the limits of a 17 year old APS-C sensor.

With the spire of the Church of St. Martin in Lorch dominating the scene the 13:10 service from Koblenz Hbf to Wiesbaden Hbf pulls into the town's station led by an ex-Deutsche Reichsbahn Class 143 on Friday the 29th of May 2009.

Rhine Race
On the early evening of Friday the 29th of May 2009 the 15:42 departure from Frankfurt (Main) Hbf to Hamburg Altona led by an unknown DB Class 101 electric locomotive races the paddle steamer "Goethe" north past the villages of Lorch, on the far bank of the River Rhine; and Rheindiebach. The "Goethe" is the last working paddle steamer on the Rhine. She was built in Cologne in 1913 and until the winter of 2008-2009 she was coaled powered, but was then converted to diesel power.

L’amas du Trèfle brumeux
Toujours lors des NAT 2023, à l’observatoire de Tauxigny de la Société astronomique de Touraine, j’ai pu lancer des poses en grand champ vers la constellation de Céphée vers l’objet nommé IC 1396 (aussi cataloguée Sh2-131). C’est une immense nébuleuse en émission située à environ 3.000 années-lumière de la Terre, d'environ 5 fois le diamètre de la pleine Lune. Elle est appelée The Misty Clover Cluster chez les anglo-saxons (ou l’amas du Trèfle Brumeux). Les nébuleuses en émission sont constituées de nuages de gaz (neutre ou ionisé) émettant de la lumière dans différentes couleurs. Les étoiles jeunes et chaudes, qui se trouvent dans les nuages, produisent des photons de haute énergie. Ce rayonnement intense excite les atomes du nuage, qui émettent à leur tour de la lumière (photons). Ce sont de vraies pouponnières d’étoiles Ces étoiles naissent dans les régions les plus sombres et opaques où la densité de matière et la température sont les plus importantes, en raison de l’effondrement gravitationnel de la matière environnante, les ondes de choc ou encore la pression de radiation. La matière au sein de ces zones opaques finit par s’écrouler localement sous la forme de petits « globules de Bok ». Parmi la cinquantaine de globules que contient la nébuleuse, la plus marquante est la « Trompe de l’éléphant », visible au centre de l’image, comme une colonne de poussière descendant vers l’étoile centrale, ressemblant à un des « Piliers de la Création » de la nébuleuse de l’Aigle. In the heart of Vienna, nestled in a charming old building with a red-tiled roof and ivy-clad walls, lived a kind-hearted cat named Dory. Dory was a sleek, silver-furred feline with bright green eyes that sparkled with curiosity and warmth. She spent her days exploring the cobblestone streets, basking in the sun at the Schönbrunn Palace gardens, and making friends with the local animals. One spring morning, as Dory wandered through the park, she heard a commotion coming from the nearby field. Curious, she followed the sounds of gruff shouting and timid responses until she reached the training grounds where a group of BunBuns—fluffy, wide-eyed rabbits—were standing in neat rows. They were all in their first day of national service, and they looked both eager and nervous. In front of them, pacing with a stern expression, was their drill sergeant, Brushtail Mousie. Brushtail was a small, wiry mouse with a bushy tail and a voice much larger than her stature. "Stand up straight! Ears up! Eyes forward!" Brushtail bellowed, her tail twitching with authority. The BunBuns did their best to follow her orders, but their trembling whiskers betrayed their anxiety. Dory felt a pang of sympathy for the young BunBuns. "Poor dears," she thought. "They need something to cheer them up and give them strength." Being a resourceful cat, Dory quickly hatched a plan. She trotted off to her favorite market, where she knew she could find the freshest and sweetest carrots in all of Vienna. The market was bustling with activity, but Dory skillfully weaved through the crowds until she reached the vegetable stall. The vendor, an elderly man with a kind smile, greeted her warmly. "Ah, Dory! What brings you here today?" Dory purred and nudged the pile of carrots with her paw. The vendor chuckled, understanding her request. "Some carrots for your friends, eh? These will do nicely." He picked out a large bundle of the best carrots and wrapped them up for her. With the carrots balanced in a basket on her back, Dory made her way back to the training grounds. She approached the BunBuns during a break in their drills and gently placed the basket in front of them. Their eyes widened with delight at the sight of the vibrant orange carrots. "These are for you," Dory said softly. "To keep you strong and motivated." The BunBuns beamed and eagerly reached for the carrots, but before they could take a bite, Brushtail Mousie scurried over, her nose twitching suspiciously. "What's going on here?" she demanded. She eyed the carrots, then Dory, and finally the BunBuns, who froze in place. Dory took a step back, her tail flicking nervously. "I thought the BunBuns could use a little treat to help them through their training," she explained. Brushtail Mousie narrowed her eyes. "Carrots, you say? Well, well, well. I'll take these." She snatched the basket away, much to the dismay of the BunBuns. "These will be confiscated. Training is not the time for treats!" Dory watched in dismay as Brushtail carried the basket to her office. But instead of putting them away for safekeeping, Brushtail Mousie quickly swapped the carrots for a selection of gourmet cheeses she had hidden in her desk. She tucked the cheeses into the basket and trotted back out, nibbling on a piece of aged cheddar. The BunBuns' ears drooped in disappointment, but Dory wasn't about to give up. She slinked away quietly and followed Brushtail to her office. Peeking through the window, she saw the mouse indulging in the stolen carrots, a smug look on her face. Determined to set things right, Dory waited until Brushtail Mousie was distracted by a particularly crunchy carrot. Then, with a swift and silent move, Dory slipped through the window, grabbed the basket of cheeses, and darted back to the BunBuns. "Here," she whispered, placing the basket in front of them once more. "It’s not carrots, but it should still give you a boost." The BunBuns, grateful for Dory's perseverance, began nibbling on the cheeses, their spirits lifting with each bite. Brushtail Mousie, none the wiser, continued munching on her ill-gotten carrots, thinking she had outsmarted everyone. From that day on, Dory made it her mission to keep an eye on the training grounds, ensuring that the BunBuns always had the support they needed, whether it was a kind word, a sneaky treat, or a clever plan. And as for Brushtail Mousie, well, she never did figure out why the BunBuns seemed so much happier and stronger, but Dory didn’t mind. She knew that sometimes, a little kindness and a lot of determination could make all the difference in the world. "Lasst euch das Fell trimmen, ihr schrecklichen kleinen Kaninchen! Der Verkäufer, ein älterer Mann mit einem freundlichen Lächeln, begrüßte sie herzlich. "Ah, Dory! Was führt dich heute hierher?" Dory schnurrte und stupste mit ihrer Pfote auf den Haufen Karotten. Der Verkäufer lachte und verstand sofort ihre Bitte. "Ein paar Karotten für deine Freunde, was? Diese hier werden gut passen." Er suchte ein großes Bündel der besten Karotten aus und verpackte sie für sie. Mit den Karotten in einem Korb auf ihrem Rücken machte sich Dory auf den Weg zurück zum Trainingsplatz. Sie näherte sich den BunBuns während einer Pause im Training und stellte den Korb vorsichtig vor ihnen ab. Ihre Augen weiteten sich vor Freude beim Anblick der leuchtend orangefarbenen Karotten. "Diese sind für euch," sagte Dory leise. "Um euch stark und motiviert zu halten." Die BunBuns strahlten und griffen eifrig nach den Karotten, aber bevor sie einen Bissen nehmen konnten, huschte Bürstenschwanz Mausie herüber, ihre Nase zuckte misstrauisch. "Was geht hier vor?" fragte sie. Sie musterte die Karotten, dann Dory und schließlich die BunBuns, die wie erstarrt dastanden. Dory machte einen Schritt zurück, ihr Schwanz zuckte nervös. "Ich dachte, die BunBuns könnten ein kleines Leckerli gebrauchen, um ihr Training zu unterstützen," erklärte sie. Bürstenschwanz Mausie verengte die Augen. "Karotten, sagst du? Na, na, na. Ich nehme diese." Sie riss den Korb weg, sehr zum Bedauern der BunBuns. "Diese werden beschlagnahmt. Das Training ist nicht die Zeit für Leckereien!" Dory sah bestürzt zu, wie Bürstenschwanz den Korb in ihr Büro trug. Aber anstatt sie zur sicheren Aufbewahrung wegzulegen, tauschte Bürstenschwanz Mausie schnell die Karotten gegen eine Auswahl an Gourmet-Käsen aus, die sie in ihrem Schreibtisch versteckt hatte. Sie steckte die Käsestücke in den Korb und trippelte zurück, während sie an einem Stück gereiftem Cheddar knabberte. Die Ohren der BunBuns hingen enttäuscht herunter, aber Dory wollte nicht aufgeben. Sie schlich leise weg und folgte Bürstenschwanz zu ihrem Büro. Durch das Fenster spähend, sah sie, wie die Maus die gestohlenen Karotten genüsslich verzehrte, ein selbstzufriedenes Lächeln im Gesicht. Entschlossen, die Sache in Ordnung zu bringen, wartete Dory, bis Bürstenschwanz Mausie von einer besonders knusprigen Karotte abgelenkt war. Dann, mit einer schnellen und lautlosen Bewegung, schlüpfte Dory durch das Fenster, schnappte sich den Käsekorb und rannte zurück zu den BunBuns. "Hier," flüsterte sie und stellte den Korb wieder vor ihnen ab. "Es sind zwar keine Karotten, aber es sollte euch trotzdem einen Schub geben." Die BunBuns, dankbar für Dorys Beharrlichkeit, begannen an den Käsen zu knabbern, ihre Stimmung hob sich mit jedem Bissen. Bürstenschwanz Mausie, nichts ahnend, knabberte weiter an ihren gestohlenen Karotten und dachte, sie hätte alle ausgetrickst. Von diesem Tag an machte es sich Dory zur Aufgabe, ein Auge auf den Trainingsplatz zu haben und sicherzustellen, dass die BunBuns immer die Unterstützung hatten, die sie brauchten, sei es ein freundliches Wort, ein heimliches Leckerli oder ein cleverer Plan. Und was Bürstenschwanz Mausie betrifft, nun, sie fand nie heraus, warum die BunBuns so viel glücklicher und stärker wirkten, aber das machte Dory nichts aus. Sie wusste, dass manchmal ein bisschen Freundlichkeit und eine Menge Entschlossenheit den Unterschied in der Welt ausmachen können.

Risk
This little stream is present only with Spring runoff and every time we walk by, I try to grab a shot. It's part of trail network that we help maintain so we walk through at least twice a year. However, it always seems to be too busy with debris and rock formations for a pleasing composition - and if I'm taking too long to try and find a nice angle, there is a risk that my hiking partner sneaks in a picture of her own. Strangely enough, we never come home with the same composition.
