Place: Meldrums, Ceres Camera: Canon 10D . Birthday Bash: . It was my Wife’s birthday today 21st Oct but to celebrate we’d been out at the weekend, to a place called Meldrums Hotel, in a small village outside of Cupar in Fife called Ceres. . We’d seen this place a few times, derelict at times and as a pub before. But when going to the local Highland Games here, we’d tried to get a room, quite a hard thing to do but as a I said a birthday treat, My Wife booked us a lunch date. . It’s a great space and has a nice atmosphere. Beautiful surroundings and the food, the food was fantastic.. . This shot was a fluke, I was framing up the colourful foliage inside, and didn’t notice the waiter, who was at the bar in the background; the resulting shot framing him well. . Happy little accident as Bob would say.

10D ISO1600
Taken with 10D at ISO 1600! Straight out of camera, raw converted to jpg with all settings at 0, sharpening turned off. Lens: Sigma ART 35mm F1.4 DG HSM. (10D focuses fast with this lens, always accurately even at F1.4 at low light). At ISO 1600 there's a pleasant chroma noise in the out of focus areas, but in focus areas have no noticeable chroma noise.

Crystal whisky glasses up close with an old Canon 10D and 50mm f1.8 lens.

Ashoka this will not work!
10D this time with the EF 24mm F2.8 IS USM lens. with image stabilization on. It can get even closer than the 35mm Sigma ART , and even though F is 2.8, this old and cheap lens pretty darn well holds its place compared to the stellar Sigma ART lens! The Sigma was much easier to focus, but this lens was not difficult to focus either.

Cinematic! Ashokas stand
10D + EF 24mm F2.8 IS USM. Almost macro shot, hand held, IS on, near low light situation. Pushing the boundaries of old technology - old lens, and as old digital camera as it gets... my first day of using the 10D. I am so glad it works, USPS dragged it through over a dozen distribution centers over the course of two weeks. Testament to the ruggedness of this camera that it survived!

This was my second camera, a back-up and a flexible addition; being smaller and lighter than my new D2Xs. I’d also bought the camera grip, just to add that extra flexibility too. . Well, the D80 is going back to @mpbcom They (MPB) were super nice and gave options on how to return and the options. So I opted to just return but buy something else, as I couldn’t get the same as I’d wanted. . So in steps the Canon 10D. I’d looked at a Canon 1D mkiv and S as a possible upgrade, before buying the Nikon D2Xs, so when I saw this it fell into place. The price was good, the condition was excellent; it had all its bit’s CD’s too. I’m really chuffed with it; I also bought the camera grip and a cheep lens, as I’d not owned a Canon and I didn’t have a lens to put on it. . These are some brief test shots of an excellent bakery called @cukie.patisserie and their beautiful food. . There will be, like the Nikon D2Xs, a proper series of test shots to better evaluate the camera.

Where I’m trying to post images from cameras I have/had, and post them by the year they came out. . This time I’m uploading from one of my newest cameras I own but one that came out all the way back in 2003; the Canon EOS 10D. The image is from a trip my wife and I took to Aberdour: 23rd March 2024. . I’m mostly happy with the image, the tones are nice and the colours look interesting; nothing is washed out or overly blown. There is a small highlight in the picture to draw your eye and the stream is a nice shape. . There are of course issues, which I’m not to sure I can put my finger on; could be the busyness of bushes on the left of the image. It’s maybe too much on one side, and is overly distracting. . Next: is the Olympus E-500 from 2005; a camera I sold long ago but only now appreciate the image quality of.

I recently found an old Canon 10D from 2003 and I couldn´t resist buying it. It was very cheap but it looked almost like new and today I tried it for the first time. The lens used here is an M42 Mamiya Sekor 55mm 1:1.8.

Place: Home Camera: Canon 10D . Took this just this past week, whilst trying to capture some inspiration. Where we live, you can get some nice sunsets depending on the time of the month, or day and depending on the cloud cover and sunset time. . This and other photos at the same time came out quite well; I’ve been experimenting with the colour settings on the camera. . The lens holds up well here but I’m thinking that I’d like to get something sharper and quicker.

Place: Dysart Camera: Canon 10D . Another shot from my recent trip to Dysart; a town connected to a bigger town: Kirkcaldy but, is a separate entity in its own right. . An interesting place with post WWII housing mixed with historical harbour area and various buildings of a historical nature. . It was used apparently in Outlander in some scenes; at least the harbour was. So there are various photo opportunities to be had. . I’m enjoying using the Canon; the battery grip I got to go with it £3 off MPB! Makes holding the camera a joy, it’s also quicker than I thought it would be in continuous mode. The buffer is a little slow in emptying at times but on the whole the camera is a joy to use. .

Place: Dysart Camera: Canon 10D . This shot and the previous upload for this camera were taken on the same day. Like I’d previously mentioned I had wanted to retrace my steps; comparing two cameras. . I didn’t really get too far, as the weather had other ideas. In that waves created by stormy seas, were too inviting not to take shots of. . . As such I only got as far as this on my journey and the camera battery died after my 169th shot. . It was a dreek day, so it’s muted pallet wise but settings on the camera; which I can’t seem to get the hang of. That’s one thing about the Sony; as I’ve used it for quite a while and it’s slightly newer I found it easier to get the exposure soaked in correctly. . I also think the lens is slightly dull? It seems sharp enough but not bright. That could be my settings though? . I’ll maybe post another and edit the file but at the moment I can officially use the :SOOC moniker on this lol.

Place: Dysart Camera: Canon 10D . I’d planned to do a more thorough comparison between old and well still old but just new to me; of my Sony a350 and new Canon 10D. . Conditions aside; bright August day vs dreek late winter February. I was able to get this quite close; I’d be interested to hear who thought what one was better or preferred. (Issues uploading both photos means you get the canon shot first) . I also had planned to do similar shots all the way along the same route but circumstances; stormy sea and dead batter put play to that. . I however got enough for a start to compare. I’ll do a more in-depth dive later.

20050415_2313_10D-70 Power of water April 2005 and we were on a road trip (just over 1,000km one way) to Auckland, where I would attend the 2005 PSNZ National Photographic Convention. We over-nighted in Picton and we booked on the 11:45am sailing of The Lynx, a INCAT catamaran fast ferry (INCAT 046) across Cook Strait between the South Island and the North Island. I wanted to do the fast ferry (about an hour quicker than the conventional tubs), so had specifically booked this crossing. Friends from my camera club were booked on the next sailing a few hours later, also wanting to experience the fast ferry. It was a calm crossing and as we were nearing the dock in Wellington, staff started to remove ancillary stuff from the passenger lounge. Strange I thought, maybe a rough return crossing coming up. A few days later in Auckland I caught up with my friends and asked about their fast ferry crossing. “There was none. It has been sold. We were rebooked on a conventional ferry.” They asked what ferry I had been transferred to, and I replied that just six hours before their booking I was on The Lynx. I now knew why the stuff was being removed from the lounge! Twelve-thirteen years earlier we (the family) had been returning from another road trip to Auckand and we were on a conventional Cook Strait ferry as we saw Condor 10 (The Lynx) operating one of it’s first two crossings to get certification for the service. So I had seen the first (or second) fast ferry crossing sans passengers, and had been on the last passenger operation of a Cook Strait fast ferry. #15027

Atlantic Coast were not a common operator into YYZ long term, but they did appear for the odd season here and there. Blueridge was their very cool callsign, and I am really happy to have happened to catch one of their Dornier 328JET's preparing to depart YYZ's 33L back in 2004. I forget where they operated to, I think it may have been to Washington

A very classic 737-200 Combi, prepares to depart 33R at YYZ. Operated by a company I've never heard of called Jetall Aviation it appears on behalf of Falconbridge. The aircraft went on to servce with Noranda Mines from 97-01 then Falconbridge themselves from 01-05 before ending its service life in Congo as 9Q-CGW, where it is currently listed as stored.

My Review of the Canon 10D. (A DSLR from 2003).
A 6 Megapixel DSLR from the year 2003. Ready to talk about this classic DSLR after using it for two weeks. If you want to see its image quality, just look at my last 5 images. Purchase the camera for two reasons, the price was a bargain and I wanted to see for myself its image quality; after seeing some photos from Sammy Collazo with this camera. As soon as I receive the camera and hold it, was impress by its beauty and well built. But more impress when I inspected the raw files. Then after two weeks of abuse, got the dreaded Canon Error 99. I did everything I found on Google, and the camera was not working. Then I remember that it started to get the error when I did a Mirror lock-up; so it occurred to me to carefully hold the mirror up while pressing the shutter. I was able to fix the problem, just lucky. So glad that I'm still able to use this excellent 18 years old DSLR and is part of my working cameras collection. (Spanish: Reseña de la Canon 10D.) Compre la camera para ver personalmente su calidad despues de ver fotos por Sammy Collazo con la camara. Es una cámara solida y hermosa. Los colores, contraste y resolución son excelentes hasta para imprimir a tamaño A3. Mientras la estaba usando esta semana me dio el temible error 99. Trate todo lo que encontré en Google, pero me recordé que el error comenzó cuando selle el espejo para arriba. Entonces se me ocurrió aguantar el espejo cuidadosamente mientras oprimía el disparador.
