We were delighted to see this species soaring over the Arfak Mountain forests on two occasions. The weather helped being sunny with light winds. We also managed to see the Papuan Eagle when I took this image, flying low over the canopy of the forest before being lost to view. Not surprisingly both species were new for me.

Dragonfly En Face - Pachydiplax longipennis
Taken through my bathroom window. Perched on the tip of the branch supporting my hummingbird feeder. This hunting dragonfly repeatedly kept rapidly taking off into the air to catch an insect and always returned to the same perch. I fired the shutter at 10 fps as soon as he was airborne and the dragonfly was back in place at the end of the series.

G-JPIT
G-JPIT a été construit à partir de zéro sur une période de 4 ans. Il est basé sur le fuselage du Pitts S2S et incorpore toutes les modifications testées et approuvées sur le G-EWIZ. Une différence majeure est la conception de l'aile. Elles sont uniques, conçues par Eddie Saurenman Aero Works et sont incroyables à piloter. Des ailerons plus grands et une plus grande surface d'aile donnent un taux de roulis phénoménal et une meilleure maniabilité à basse vitesse. Cela valait bien les milliers d'heures que j'ai passées dans le hangar à les construire. Construire un jeu d'ailes en bois revient à construire un modèle réduit d'avion - les pièces en bois sont juste un peu plus grandes. Les mêmes principes s'appliquent. La galerie de photos montre une partie du travail effectué.

Canon EOS M
The Canon EOS M was Canon's (and my) first attempt at mirrorless cameras. There were quite a couple of disappointments to deal with. Slow AF, mediocre 18mp sensor, poor battery life, and lacking buttons and features for professionals. On the plus side, it's a very compact body, and the lens mount allows for tiny lenses with high quality optics. Later iterations are quite nice The EOS M is becoming quite hard to find for a good price.

Great Horned Owl
I photographed this Owl sitting on her nest with my 400 f/2.8 Canon lens several years ago (2014) from right at 500 feet. To do that I used my 2.0 extender VII. To make it still large enough to post, I enlarged it, I don't remember how much, it's been awhile since I did that. I used Topaz Gigapixel. It worked, 'just O.K.', but looks much better in B&W. She later had TWO Owlets. 🙂

Canon Angle Finder C
Another obscure Canon accessory: the Angle Finder C. Introduced in the early 2000's, and although it is still being sold, it's no longer relevant since most camera's have a flip-out screen. For the macro photographers that use older DSLRs, it is still a nice option to have available.

Fieseler Fi 156 Storch
Le plus célèbre de tous les avions Fieseler en raison de son utilisation extensive durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, le Fieseler Storch Fi 156 (stork), était un remarquable avion STOL (short take-off and landing) qui fit son premier vol au début de l'année 1936. Monoplan à aile haute haubanée, de construction mixte bois et métal, le Fi 156 possédait un empennage classique haubané, un train d'atterrissage à large empatte-ment ; la verrière vitrée de la cabine procurait une visibilité exception-nelle aux trois membres d'équipage. Le moteur était un Argus à cylindres en V inversé. Comme pour le Fi 97, la clé du succès de cet avion repo-sait sur l'excellente performance aérodynamique de l'aile résultant du savoir-faire de la compagnie.

This car is without a doubt the finest example of an E Type I have ever seen. Exported to the USA in 1974, it was imported back to the UK in 2012. The car has been completely rebuilt, and converted to right hand drive. The paint job is a two pack, carried out by Aston Martin no less. All In all, Absolutely stunning.
