Perseids in Southern Finland
Edit on 18th Aug 2023: I found 6 additional meteors from the raw frames. Hunting them from the raw material seems to be a bit of a challenge as the skies are quite bright here in Finland during the Perseids. But now I think I found all. This year my plan was to image Perseids in three consecutive nights on both sides of the maximum, but my plans went out of the window due to clouds. But, as luck would have it, the night with the Perseids maximum was clear enough with only minor passing clouds and some sea fog. So, I packed my gear to my car around 19:00, wished my family a good night and drove about an hour from Espoo towards east to Emäsalo, Porvoo. There I used the same location as last year when I imaged the Perseids during a full Moon. I walked a few hundred meters from the car, found a spot on the shore that was familiar to me (scouted the area with my son some time ago during daytime picnic) and set up my gear. I also took some background photos while waiting for the darkness to arrive. However, it should be noted that it really does not get dark here during the Perseids as the southern coast of Finland is quite high up north anyways. But I make do with what I have... I took the data between 23:25 Aug 12th and 02:59 Aug 13th Finnish time with Sony A7Riv, Samyang 12 mm fisheye + a heater strip and used iOptron SkyTracker Pro and camera's built-in intervalometer (settings: iso 1600, 10 sec exposures, f/2.8). Later I found out that the total amount of frames was 1168 and that meteors were found in about 28 frames. Lots of satellite trails and some sporadic satellites also. Some of these I cleaned away, some not. Then during the post processing I used Photoshop's quite nice AI denoise to clean the background image (I did not use denoising in any meteor trails, though). It's actually pretty amazing denoise as the background image with the sky is only a 10 sec exposure with lots of noise originally. Then I composited the meteor trails one by one on top of the background image and adjusted every single one of them to pop them out more but so that I kept the colors i.e. trying not to over expose the trails. This was done so that I could keep the trail colors which in my opinion looks interesting. No color boost or such were used for the trails, only exposure adjustment, so the colors are quite realistic, only more prominent than "out of the sensor". I also took myself from one of my background images and composited that in to the right side corner of the final image. I was there, it was a wonderful night and I wanted to make me also part of the image. Close to me you can see Jupiter low in the sky and its "Jupiter river" (compare to Moon river) on the Gulf of Finland. Left from Jupiter is Pleiades and on the far left side of the image one can see the Big dipper. Next time the plan is still to image more evenings as the nights are short here in Aug and in order to get more meteors using multiple night time hours seems to be the best approach. Oh, and f/4 with 20 sec or so, the coma is terrible with this lens wide open. So there it is. Colorful Perseids during the night of the maximum in the Southern Finnish coast in 2023.

Victoria-Sicht, mit Fischauge Samyang 12mm, f/2.8. Normalerweise rechnet mir Lightroom per Objektivkorrektur so eine Aufnahme zu einem "geraden" Bild, hier fand ich den Effekt allerdings witzig und hab`s original belassen. Ein Nachteil der Objektivkorrektur ist, dass alles zu den Rändern hin sehr unscharf wird. Das Samyang ist trotz seines niedrigen Preises ein ganz feines Objektiv, lichtstark, knackscharf bis zu den Rändern und es macht sehr hübsche Sonnensterne 😁. . Prora - der Wahnsinn
In der 30er Jahren als KdF (Kraft durch Freude)-Hotelanlage / Seebad erbaut, aber nie gänzlich fertiggestellt. Mit 10.000 Zimmern für bis zu 20.000 Gäste und einer Breite von fast 5 km noch bis zum heutigen Tage eines der größten Gebäude der Welt. Während des zweiten Weltkriegs kamen die Bauarbeiten weitestgehend zum Erliegen, fertige Abschnitte wurden zu DDR-Zeiten von der NVA verwendet, aber das meiste verfiel. Einige der 8 Abschnitte wurde gänzlich abgerissen, andere sind umzäunt und dem Verfall preisgegeben. Im zentralen Bereich war jedoch die alte Bausubstanz offensichtlich noch so gut erhalten, dass nach umfangreicher Sanierung luxuriöse Ferienwohnungen, eine Jugendherberge, Museen u.v.m. Einzug gehalten haben. . The public main library in Stuttgart, a place to be, to read books, to learn, to meet, to have coffee and cake and to take photos. For the first picture not the main open cube, the second center cube after entering the library. One out of four, because on all four sides there is an entrance. Yes, this is one of the few libraries which are a photographic hot spot, where the library has a system for photographers, both professional and for hobbyists, Instagrammers and others. Before I went there, I sent an email asking for permission to use tripod. Normally quite difficult to get, not here. Just come, read the rules for photographers and everything is fine. This was the case, I went, I asked was sent to security, get a batch for the day. 5 Minutes from entering to end of procedures, very organized. If you look it up, places to photograph in Stuttgart, the library is prominent listed. Cubes in cubes on top of cubes, designed by Architect Eun Young Yi, won the library several prices for design. Sunny winter Sundays, there are no boats at the jetties of the Tutzing Yacht club, still to early. The only boats on the lake Starnberg are rowing boots from the rowing club around the lake. Take during an organized walk with some friends. We met, to take some pictures of the various under ground stations here in Munich. Goal was to take pictures of several stations within Munic. There is even an dedicated group on flickr, www.flickr.com/groups/u-bahn-muenchen/ For this trip, we decided on line U2, starting from the final stop Feldmoching towards main station. A breath of fresh air, after leaving the station Dülfer Straße, with a short stop the surface to the colorful surface of the shopping mall Mira. Smaller part of the wall in even light. And if you look carefully, on the brighter parts there are reflections from the clouds above.

I am fortunate to live close to the Starnberger See, with view to the alps from my home. Therefore I have a large collection of photos with mountains, water and clouds, Constructive critic and positiv feedback is always welcome.

Perseids 2022 in southern Finland
Perseids in the Finnish southern coast in Emäsalo on the night between Aug 12th and 13th. The glow of the full moon can be seen in the upper right corner of the image. In Finland the nights are not yet dark even at the south coast so it is hard to get a shot with Milky Way properly visible. So I did not even try. But this time the full moon prvided a lot of natural light for the foreground so no need to light paint any landscape. The meteor streaks are not aligned in to the radiant as I noticed that when I was aligning the images some of the streaks would have moved outside the frame. Sony A7iii, Samyang 12 mm f/2.8 @ f/2.8. 6 sec exposures at iso 1600. Total of 1505 frames. After cleaning satellites etc and rejecting "empty" frames I found 19 Perseids. These are processed as layers in Photoshop.

Notre-Dame des Neiges
Notre-Dame des Neiges est une église catholique consacrée à la Sainte Vierge, bâtie au XXe siècle sur la commune d'Huez dans la station d'Alpe d'Huez. le curé Jaap Reuten, Hollandais, imagine le projet d'une nouvelle église et demande en 1960 à Jean Le Boucher et à l'architecte Jean Marol (1930-2010) de faire construire une église en forme de tente (représentant celle du patriarche Abraham). De magnifiques vitraux entourent la nef, de forme ovale, représentant la vie de Jésus-Christ d'après l'évangile de saint Marc, réalisés par l'artiste Arcabas. Dans le chœur, fut ensuite installé un orgue, unique au monde, en forme de main. L'instrument fut dessiné par le compositeur Jean Guillou et réalisé par le facteur d'orgues allemand Detlef Kleuker.

Schrammtor - Schrammsteine
Ich persönlich bin ja der Meinung, dass unser pfälzisches Luger Tor fast noch ein wenig beeindruckender ist als hier das sächsische Schrammtor, aber dennoch ist das Schrammtor als Durchgang zwischen den hoch in den Himmel aufragenden Schrammstein-Felstürmen ein absolutes Highlight ! Durch das Fisheye-Objektiv lässt sich schwer einschätzen wie hoch die Felsen hier sind. Ein Vergleich mit den Kiefern im Hintergrund lässt sich aber die immense Höhe durchaus erahnen. Ich schätze den rechten Turm auf gut 40 m Höhe. Nähe Bad Schandau, Sächsische Schweiz, Elbsandsteingebirge . Lake Höllerer is a body of water in Upper Austria in the area of the municipalities of St. Pantaleon and Haigermoos. It is 780 m long, 330 m wide and has the shape of a kidney; the maximum depth is 21 m. Lake Höller covers an area of about 20 ha and stores about 3 million m³ of water. For the short trip to Höllerer See, I screwed the SAMYANG 12mm to the Fuji X-E1, which is equivalent to 18mm focal length at 35mm format. The SAMYANG is one of my least favorite lenses because it just isn't as harmonious on a Fuji APS-C as the original Fujinons. I bought the lens especially for my first NYC visit, but especially in Manhattan I could hardly use the lens at all. Just a few shots in Grand Central Station, that's all that came out. Since then I'm always trying to find a reasonable purpose, but it remains difficult. Pour cette courte excursion au lac Höllerer See, j'ai vissé le SAMYANG 12mm sur le Fuji X-E1, ce qui correspond à une distance focale de 18mm au format 35mm. Le SAMYANG est l'un de mes objectifs les moins appréciés, tout simplement parce qu'il n'est pas aussi harmonieux sur un Fuji APS-C que les Fujinon d'origine. J'ai acheté cet objectif spécialement pour ma première visite à NYC, mais je n'ai presque pas pu l'utiliser à Manhattan. Tout juste quelques photos à Grand Central Station, c'est tout ce que j'ai pu obtenir. Depuis, j'essaie toujours de trouver une utilisation raisonnable, mais cela reste difficile. Für den kurzen Ausflug zum Höllerer See habe ich das SAMYANG 12mm an die Fuji X-E1 geschraubt, was 18mm Brennweite beim 35mm Format entspricht. Das SAMYANG ist eines meiner ungeliebten Objektive, weil es einfach nicht so harmonisch an einer Fuji APS-C ist wie die original Fujinons. Ich habe das Objektiv extra für meinen ersten NYC Besuch erworben, doch gerade in Manhattan konnte ich die Linse fast gar nicht gebrauchen. Gerade mal ein paar Aufnahmen in Grand Central Station, mehr kam dabei nicht heraus. Seitdem bin ich immer wieder mal dabei, einen vernünfitigen Einsatzzweck zu finden, aber es bleibt schwierig.

Walk around shots in Montreal. Picture taken through Nikon D750 and Samyang 12mm F2.8 Fish eye. Fish Eye Curves slightly corrected in Adobe Photoshop using Adaptve Wide Angle. You can see that buildings and walls are rectilinear but the pavement upfront has curves. I tried to correct it, but as it started to compromise the more interesting elements of image, I let it be. This small , under $500 USD Samyang lens is absolutely a beast in it's performance. I have loved every shot taken from it. The sharpness and color reproduction that this lens delivers is breathtaking. I had first ordered Samyang 14mm f2.8 rectilinear lens (similarly priced), but I was thoroughly disappointed with the pictures I took- They were all soft and lacked the color pop. I returned that, ordered the fisheye and I couldn't be happier. If you learn how to correct the fisheye distortions upto 90% using Photoshop and can live with remaining 10% distortion, I think this lens outperforms Tamron's 15-30 f2.8, Nikon's 14-24mm f2.8 and Sigma's 14-14 f2.8 , each being at least 3 to 4 times more expensive. At the very least, this lens can give most High Quality-Ultra Wide Angle experience at lowest possible price today.

In the subway station "Westfriedhof" (Western Cemetery) on the border between the districts of Moosach and Neuhausen-Nymphenburg. Pretty popular photo location for obvious reasons... The blue walls (remainders of the slurry wall that was used during construction) and the 11 huge lamps of 3.80 m diameter each give a very special atmosphere. Quartier Saint Leu Amiens
Au début du xiiie siècle, la ville d'Amiens s'agrandit vers le nord par l'aménagement de quais sur les rives des canaux et bras de la Somme. Les industries textiles (tissage, teinturerie) les tanneries et des moulins s'installèrent dans ce lieu qui prit le nom de quartier Saint-Leu. La reconstruction de la cathédrale entraîna le transfert de l'Hôtel-Dieu le long de la chaussée aux bleds - l'actuelle rue Saint-Leu. À la fin du xve siècle, le quartier accueillit l'industrie de la sayetterie, chassée d'Arras, sur décision du roi Louis XI. La population ouvrière occupa le quartier dans des maisons de torchis jusqu'à la fin du xxe siècle.
